Stonebwoy Insists His Song Played Part In NDC Winning 2024 Election

Ghanaian music star Stonebwoy has claimed that his hit song Jejereje contributed to the victory of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 general election.

Speaking at a fundraising event ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Stonebwoy said that although he did not openly campaign for the party, he believes the release of Jejereje had a positive influence on listeners at a “tense time” in Ghana’s political landscape. The dancehall musician explained that the song and its timing resonated with people who were ready for change, and he personally felt it aligned with the themes of hope and renewal the NDC promoted.

He described himself as someone who believes strongly in the idea of resetting and pushing for progress, which is why he chose to share the song when he did. Stonebwoy suggested that this musical contribution helped support a shift in public sentiment that ultimately favoured the NDC during the election.

The 2024 Ghanaian general election resulted in a decisive victory for the NDC, with former President John Dramani Mahama winning the presidential race and the party also securing a parliamentary majority. Political analysts say a range of factors, including public dissatisfaction with the previous government’s economic performance and campaign messaging by the NDC, contributed to the outcome.

Stonebwoy’s comments have sparked discussion among fans and social media users, with some praising the artist for linking culture with civic engagement, while others note that election results are shaped by many influences beyond music.
