Police Intensify Security Measures Ahead Of Ayawaso East By Election

The Ghana Police Service has strengthened security operations in the Ayawaso East Constituency ahead of the parliamentary by election scheduled for tomorrow. The move is aimed at ensuring a peaceful and orderly voting process across all electoral areas within the constituency.

As part of the preparations, police officers conducted a visible show of force exercise and route march through principal streets to demonstrate readiness and deter any potential disturbances. The exercise involved personnel drawn from multiple specialised units, strategically positioned to respond swiftly to incidents and maintain law and order.

According to the Police Service, the enhanced deployment is designed to protect voters, election officials, political party agents and observers throughout the electoral process. Security officers will be stationed at polling centres and other sensitive locations to prevent intimidation, violence or any activity that could disrupt the smooth conduct of the election.

Residents have been urged to cooperate fully with security personnel and to adhere strictly to electoral regulations. The police have also called on political actors and their supporters to act responsibly and avoid inflammatory behaviour that could escalate tensions. Authorities have cautioned that anyone found engaging in unlawful conduct will face immediate legal action.

The Ayawaso East by election is being organised to fill a vacant parliamentary seat, and stakeholders are hopeful that the poll will proceed without incident. With heightened security presence and clear operational planning, the Police Service says it remains committed to safeguarding peace and protecting the democratic rights of all eligible voters.
