Alleged Fake Soldier Arrested At 37 Military Hospital On His Way To See A Nurse
An alleged impostor dressed in a military uniform was arrested by security personnel at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra as he was reportedly heading to meet a female nurse. The suspect was taken into custody after members of the armed forces became suspicious of his identity and asked him to produce valid service documents. When he failed to present the required proof that he was a legitimate soldier, he was detained for further questioning.
According to reports, the man was moving confidently in a uniform when he attempted to approach the nurse on the pretext of being attached to the Ghana Armed Forces. Eyewitnesses said that his behaviour raised concern among some military personnel who were present at the hospital, leading to his arrest on suspicion of impersonation.
Impersonating a military officer is a crime in Ghana and carries serious penalties under the country’s criminal code. Authorities have detained the suspect so they can conduct further investigations to determine whether he was involved in other unlawful activities while posing as a soldier.
Incidents of fake soldiers are not unheard of, and law enforcement agencies have in recent years warned the public to be vigilant and report anyone claiming to be a service member without the correct credentials. These warnings are meant to protect citizens from fraud and misuse of official titles.
Security officials are expected to charge the man with impersonation and related offences once investigations are completed. The 37 Military Hospital has been a high-security zone, and such impersonation events are treated with urgency to maintain public confidence in national defence institutions.
