We Have Turned Dance Into A Profitable Career – Quables
Quables, co-founder of the Dance With Purpose Academy, has pushed back against the long-standing perception that dance is not a viable profession, insisting that the industry in Ghana is now creating real income opportunities for young people.
According to him, dance has evolved significantly over the years, moving from a hobby or side activity into a structured and rewarding career path. He explained that many dancers are now earning a living through performances, brand collaborations, social media influence, and international opportunities. This shift, he noted, reflects the growing recognition of dance as an essential part of the entertainment industry.
Quables highlighted the role of the Dance With Purpose Academy in nurturing young talent and providing a platform for dancers to develop their skills professionally. He emphasised that the academy has helped transform the lives of many individuals by equipping them with discipline, exposure, and opportunities to monetise their craft.
Despite the progress, he acknowledged that challenges still exist, including limited institutional support and a lack of formal recognition for dancers in major award schemes. He believes that introducing dedicated categories for dance in award events would further legitimise the profession and encourage more young people to pursue it seriously.
Quables also stressed the importance of consistency, hard work, and creativity in sustaining a career in dance. He encouraged aspiring dancers to remain focused and take advantage of digital platforms to showcase their talent to a global audience.
His remarks reflect a broader shift in Ghana’s creative space, where dance is increasingly being seen not just as entertainment, but as a powerful tool for economic empowerment and cultural expression.
