Black Stars Ready For Any Challenge At 2026 World Cup, Says GFA President

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku, has expressed strong confidence in Ghana’s national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, declaring that the Black Stars are not afraid of any opponent.

Speaking during the launch of the team’s fundraising campaign in Accra, Okraku emphasised that the squad is mentally and tactically prepared to face the best teams on the global stage. He noted that the current team, under the guidance of coach Otto Addo, has developed the right mindset and structure to compete at the highest level.

“We will go into this tournament with confidence and determination. We fear no foe and believe Ghana football will make a strong statement,” he said.

Ghana is set to make its fifth appearance at the World Cup and has been drawn in a competitive Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. The team will begin its campaign against Panama before facing England and later Croatia in the group stage.

Okraku acknowledged Ghana’s recent struggles in past tournaments, including early exits in 2014 and 2022, but insisted that this time the team is determined to rewrite its story. He believes the current crop of players, combined with improved preparation and support, can deliver a better performance on the world stage.

As part of preparations, the Black Stars have lined up several international friendlies against strong opponents, including Austria and Germany, to fine tune the squad ahead of the tournament.

The GFA president also highlighted the importance of unity and national support, urging Ghanaians to rally behind the team as they aim to make the country proud.

With confidence high and preparations underway, Ghana heads into the 2026 World Cup with renewed ambition and a clear message: the Black Stars are ready to compete with any team.
