TGMA 2026: ‘Group Of The Year’ Category Set For Release This Week
Organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards have confirmed that the much-anticipated Group of the Year category for the 2026 edition will be unveiled later this week.
The announcement was made by Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse, following concerns from industry players and fans over the category’s absence from the initial nominees list.
According to him, the omission was not an oversight but part of an ongoing review process. He explained that the category is still being finalised to ensure that all deserving music groups are fairly assessed before the official nominations are released.
The delay has sparked conversations within the music industry, with many stakeholders questioning why one of the key award categories was missing from the earlier announcement. The Group of the Year category traditionally recognises outstanding music groups that have made significant impact within the year under review.
Robert Klah reassured the public that the awards scheme remains committed to transparency and fairness. He noted that organisers are taking extra steps to ensure accuracy and credibility in the nomination process, especially in categories that require deeper evaluation.
The Telecel Ghana Music Awards continues to be one of the most prestigious music award schemes in the country, celebrating excellence across various genres and recognising both individual artistes and groups.
With the release of the Group of the Year category expected soon, anticipation is building among fans and industry watchers eager to see which groups will make the final list.
The development also highlights the organisers’ responsiveness to public interest and their willingness to address concerns surrounding the nominations process.
