Gospel Music Legends Launch Plans for Ghana Music Heritage Museum
Celebrated gospel musicians Mary Ghansah and Diana Hopeson have unveiled plans to establish a dedicated Ghanaian music heritage museum. The artists formally presented the project to the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, seeking government support for its implementation.
The proposed museum will be located on three acres of land pledged by Manye Tsotso and the Mwakwe clan at Gbawe South (Adaruma). The facility is envisioned as a greenhouse-style complex that will preserve the legacies of Ghana’s music legends while providing social support for ageing artistes.
Diana Hopeson, co-founder of the initiative alongside Mary Ghansah under the leadership of Pastor Joe Beecham, explained that the complex will feature a museum, old age home, and other support facilities to create a lasting national legacy. It will also serve as a knowledge hub for researchers and the public to access information about Ghana’s music pioneers.
During the visit, the artistes expressed gratitude to the Ministry for its previous support and emphasized the importance of collaboration within the creative arts sector. Bermudian gospel collaborator Janita Beck also contributed a plaque, heritage book, and decorative items, highlighting international cultural collaboration between Bermuda, Ghana, and Nigeria.
Minister Gomashie welcomed the delegation, commending the vision behind the museum. She pledged government support, noting that the project aligns with the goal of preserving and promoting Ghana’s cultural and artistic heritage.
