Arnold Asamoah Baidoo Recounts Arrest During MenzGold Crisis
Veteran entertainment figure Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has shared his experience of being arrested and detained during the collapse of the MenzGold financial firm and its impact on Zylofone Media. The incident also involved musician manager Lawrence Asiamah Hanson, known as Bulldog.
Baidoo explained that during the MenzGold crisis, tensions were high and some customers tried to enter the company’s premises. With management absent and some staff unpaid, there was limited security. To protect valuable equipment, items such as air conditioners, televisions, and refrigerators were moved from individual artist offices to a more secure area of the building.
When authorities later directed that all Zylofone property be surrendered, the relocation of the equipment was misunderstood as theft. Baidoo and Bulldog were picked up by investigators and police and held overnight. They were taken to EOCO headquarters for questioning, where officials accused them of stealing property before Baidoo explained that their actions were meant to safeguard the assets.
After clarifying the situation, both men were released without charges. Baidoo emphasized that they were acting to protect the company’s property, not to take it unlawfully.
The incident highlights the challenges faced by Zylofone Media staff during the MenzGold collapse and how efforts to secure company assets were misunderstood by authorities.
