Woman Arrested After Allegedly Fabricating Widow Story On Auntie Naa’s Radio Show
A woman has reportedly been arrested after allegedly fabricating a story about being a widow during an appearance on a popular radio programme hosted by Auntie Naa.
The woman, identified as Amina Issah, appeared on the Oyerepa Afutuo programme on Oyerepa FM, where she claimed that her husband had died in a tragic accident, leaving her to care for her children alone. She used the story to appeal for sympathy and financial assistance from the public.
During the programme, Amina narrated that she had saved about GH¢10,000 and entrusted the money to someone to help purchase goods for her business. According to her story, the person allegedly failed to return the money, leaving her struggling as a single mother after her husband’s supposed death.
However, the narrative reportedly began to unravel when further checks revealed inconsistencies in her claims. Investigations conducted during the show indicated that the woman’s husband was actually alive, contradicting the widow story she had presented to the host and the audience.
Reports indicate that she had even printed posters portraying herself as a widow in an attempt to convince the public and gain support. The discovery of the alleged deception caused outrage among listeners and members of the programme’s panel.
Following the exposure of the alleged falsehood, the woman was taken into custody at the premises of the radio station. The arrest occurred after the panel and audience members realised that the story presented on the programme appeared to be part of a scheme to deceive the public.
The incident has since sparked discussions on social media about the increasing number of cases where individuals attempt to exploit sympathy through fabricated stories.
Auntie Naa’s programme is widely known for helping people resolve disputes and supporting individuals facing genuine hardships. The latest incident has therefore raised concerns about the need for stricter verification of claims presented on such public platforms.
