I Am A Pastor But I Do Not Support Weekday Church Services – Azigiza Jnr
Ghanaian pastor and media personality Rev. Victor Kpakpo Azigiza Jnr, popularly known as Azigiza Jnr, has said he does not subscribe to the practice of organising church services during weekdays.
According to the preacher, while many churches hold midweek services, he personally does not believe it is necessary for Christians to attend church gatherings throughout the week. He explained that the Bible does not specifically require believers to meet for church services on weekdays.
Azigiza Jnr argued that the early church described in the Bible primarily gathered for worship and fellowship on specific occasions rather than maintaining frequent weekly services as commonly practiced today. In his view, the growing number of weekday services has become more of a modern church culture than a biblical requirement.
He further explained that many people already face demanding schedules during the week due to work, family responsibilities, and other commitments. Because of this, he believes Christians should not feel pressured to attend additional church meetings outside of the main worship service.
The pastor also emphasised that a person’s relationship with God is not determined by how often they attend church activities during the week. Instead, he said faith should be reflected in everyday life through personal devotion, moral conduct, and genuine commitment to Christian values.
Azigiza Jnr’s remarks have sparked discussions among Christians and religious observers. While some people agree with his perspective and say weekday services can sometimes place unnecessary pressure on congregants, others argue that midweek meetings provide important opportunities for prayer, teaching, and spiritual growth.
Rev. Azigiza Jnr is widely known in Ghana for his transition from entertainment and media into full-time ministry. He currently leads a Christian ministry that focuses on connecting faith with everyday life and mentoring young believers.
