I Am Not Being Paid For This Role, Medikal Speaks On Drug Abuse Ambassador Appointment

Ghanaian rapper Samuel Adu Frimpong, popularly known as Medikal, has clarified that he is not receiving any financial compensation for serving as an ambassador in the fight against drug abuse among young people.

The musician made the statement while discussing his involvement in a national anti drug campaign aimed at addressing the rising concern about substance abuse among Ghanaian youth. According to Medikal, his decision to participate in the campaign is based on his desire to contribute positively to society rather than financial gain.

Medikal was recently appointed as an ambassador for the “Red Means Stop” initiative led by the National Youth Authority. The campaign focuses on educating young people about the dangers associated with drug abuse, particularly the growing misuse of synthetic substances among the youth.

Speaking about the role, the rapper explained that he accepted the responsibility because he believes influential figures in the entertainment industry have a duty to guide younger generations. He noted that many young people look up to musicians and public personalities, making it important for artistes to use their platforms to promote responsible behaviour.

Medikal also stated that the ambassadorial position is about awareness and education rather than personal benefit. He emphasized that his involvement will focus on encouraging young people to avoid drugs and make better life choices.

As part of the campaign, the rapper is expected to participate in public awareness activities, including youth outreach programmes, community engagements and online advocacy aimed at discouraging substance abuse. The initiative also seeks to encourage healthier lifestyles among young people and reduce the growing impact of drugs on communities.

Drug abuse has increasingly become a national concern, with health experts and policymakers warning about the long term effects of substance use on young people’s health, education and social development. By partnering with influential public figures, authorities hope to make anti drug messages more relatable and impactful.

Medikal says he is committed to using his influence and music platform to support the campaign’s message and inspire young people to live drug free lives.
