A 23‑year‑old woman, Theresa Darkoah, has died after allegedly being poisoned by her boyfriend in Buduburam, Central Region, following a dispute over a small sum of money.
Reports indicate that the suspect, Kofi Emma, also known as “Blackee,” had been giving Theresa money in an attempt to win her affection. The disagreement reportedly began when Theresa requested GH₵100 to repair her standing fan before allowing him to visit. After the money was sent, she allegedly stopped responding to his calls.
Friends say Emma became angry and demanded the money back. He is alleged to have sent a messenger with tampered medication, which Theresa took. She later experienced severe illness and was rushed to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Medical staff reportedly confirmed the substance was toxic.
The suspected boyfriend is currently on the run, and police have launched a manhunt to apprehend him as investigations continue.
