Anas And Nyantakyi Clash Over Claim He Had The President “In His Pocket”

Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and former Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi have found themselves in a renewed public disagreement over a controversial claim linked to the well known football corruption investigation. The dispute centers on an alleged statement in which Nyantakyi was said to have claimed he had significant influence over the President.

Nyantakyi has firmly denied ever making such a statement, insisting that he was misquoted and unfairly portrayed. According to him, he never suggested that he had control or special access to the President. He maintains that any references he made during recorded conversations were taken out of context and exaggerated to create a damaging narrative. He has repeatedly challenged Anas and his investigative team to provide direct evidence proving that he made the alleged remark.

In response, Anas and his investigative outfit have rejected Nyantakyi’s claims, describing them as attempts to rewrite history. They insist that the investigation exposed serious misconduct within football administration and that the conversations captured reflected the true intentions and mindset of those involved. The investigative team also clarified that Anas was not personally involved in the prosecution process, noting that the case was handled by state authorities.

The disagreement has reignited public debate about the original investigation and its impact on Ghanaian football. While some believe Nyantakyi has been unfairly treated, others argue that the exposé played a critical role in exposing corruption and restoring integrity to the sport.

As both sides continue to defend their positions, the controversy highlights broader questions about accountability, transparency, and the role of investigative journalism in holding powerful figures to account. The clash remains a subject of national discussion, reflecting the lasting influence of the investigation on Ghana’s sports and governance landscape.
