Barker Vormawor Hits Back At Critics Over Past Imprisonment

Activist and lawyer Oliver Barker Vormawor has strongly criticised individuals he says once supported his imprisonment but are now calling on him to speak on national issues.

In a sharp response, the Democracy Hub convener expressed frustration over what he described as hypocrisy among some members of the public. He stated that people who previously questioned his credibility and even supported actions against him are now seeking his voice on matters of national concern.

According to him, during the period he faced legal challenges and was dragged into prison, many critics remained silent or openly endorsed the situation. He added that some even went as far as questioning his mental stability at the time.

Vormawor noted that the same individuals are now turning to him for opinions and advocacy, a shift he finds difficult to accept. He emphasised that such behaviour reflects inconsistency and a lack of genuine support for justice and accountability.

The outspoken activist, known for his role in civic movements and governance advocacy, has had several run ins with the law in recent years, particularly linked to protests and public commentary on national issues.

His latest remarks have sparked debate online, with some agreeing with his stance on public hypocrisy, while others believe public figures should remain open to engaging critics regardless of past disagreements.

The situation highlights ongoing tensions between activists and sections of the public, especially in an environment where political opinions and public accountability continue to generate strong reactions.

Vormawor maintains that his advocacy remains rooted in principle, but insists that support should be consistent rather than conditional.
