Daddy Lumba Buried At His East Legon Home, Family Head Confirms
The family of late Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba has confirmed that the music icon was laid to rest at his private residence in East Legon, Accra, amid ongoing disagreements within his extended family over the burial arrangements.
Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, known as the head of the late singer’s family, has publicly stated that Daddy Lumba’s burial at his East Legon home was carried out in line with what he says was the musician’s final wish. He made the remarks while responding to relatives who had challenged him to reveal the location of the burial site.
The confirmation comes after a period of dispute among family members, some of whom questioned where Daddy Lumba was buried and called for Abusuapanyin Owusu to justify his handling of funeral matters. In comments on Ezra TV, Owusu dismissed claims that the burial site was being hidden and noted that relatives who did not attend the funeral still knew the location.
The decision to bury Daddy Lumba at his home has drawn public interest because such arrangements are unusual and have sparked debate over cultural norms, legal process, and family unity. Earlier reports had suggested differing accounts of the burial site, but the family head’s confirmation has brought clarity to the situation.
Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, was one of Ghana’s most celebrated musicians, known for his influential contributions to highlife music over several decades. He passed away in July 2025.
