Davido Denies Owing $50,000 To Wedding Planner After Viral Claims

Nigerian Afrobeat superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has dismissed recent online claims that he owes $50,000 to a wedding planner connected to his marriage celebrations with his wife Chioma Rowland. The singer labelled the allegation as untrue and “crazy at this point” in his response on social media.

The controversy began after a viral post on social platforms suggested that event planner Funke Bucknor-Obruthe, CEO of Zapphaire Events, had called out Davido for an unpaid balance related to his wedding. The post included an alleged screenshot in which the planner supposedly threatened legal action if the money was not paid within three days.

Davido took to X (formerly Twitter) to reject the claims, describing the situation as unbelievable, and indicating that the messages circulating online were not accurate reflections of reality. He did not accept the debt accusation and made it clear that he had no outstanding payment issue with the wedding planner.

In response, Funke Bucknor also clarified the situation, stating that she had not made any such demand and that the viral messages did not originate from her or her official channels. She emphasised that the narrative spreading online was false and misleading.

The matter stirred reactions among fans and followers across social media, with many supporters urging Davido to take legal steps against those spreading misinformation, while others expressed shock at how quickly the claims spread online.
