GFA Charges Hohoe United After Supporters Throw Objects During Samartex Clash

The Ghana Football Association has officially charged Hohoe United following incidents of supporter misconduct during their Ghana Premier League match against FC Samartex 1996.

The charge relates to an alleged breach of Section 16(2)(b) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, which addresses improper behaviour by supporters at league venues. According to the association, fans of Hohoe United allegedly threw objects onto the field of play and toward match officials during the encounter.

The incident reportedly occurred during Hohoe United’s league match against Samartex at the Hohoe Sports Stadium on Sunday, March 1, 2026. Despite the controversy surrounding the game, the home side secured a narrow 1-0 victory over their opponents.

Forward Kekeli Attor scored the decisive goal early in the second half, finding the net in the 48th minute after a quick attacking move that broke the Samartex defence. The goal proved enough to hand Hohoe United all three points in the contest.

The victory was an important result for the Volta Region based club as they continue their fight to avoid relegation in the Ghana Premier League standings.

However, the disciplinary issue involving their supporters has now overshadowed the positive result on the pitch. The Ghana Football Association has indicated that the club must respond to the misconduct charge while investigations into the incident continue.

Under the league’s disciplinary regulations, clubs are responsible for the behaviour of their supporters at match venues. Any actions that threaten the safety of players, officials, or spectators can attract sanctions including fines, warnings, or other disciplinary measures.

Hohoe United will now be required to submit a formal response to the charge within the stipulated timeframe set by the disciplinary body.

The case highlights the ongoing efforts by football authorities to enforce strict safety and conduct rules during domestic league matches. Maintaining discipline among supporters remains a key priority for the Ghana Football Association as it seeks to protect match officials, players, and fans while preserving the integrity of the competition.
