Ghana Places Third At 2026 US Army Best Medic Competition
Ghana’s medical team from the Ghana Armed Forces finished third at the 2026 US Army Best Medic Competition held in Vicenza, Italy. The event brought together military medical personnel from several nations to compete in demanding medical tasks and endurance challenges.
The Ghana Armed Forces sent a joint team made up of personnel from the Army, Navy and Air Force. They competed against teams from the United States, Italy, and Liberia in a series of events that tested medical knowledge, physical fitness and trauma care skills.
Two Ghanaian medics stood out during the competition. Sergeant Cornelius Adagbe and Leading Seaman Ato Amonoo-Rockson scored third highest overall with a total of 2,789 points out of 3,000. Amonoo-Rockson also achieved one of the top scores in the fitness test with 454 out of 500 points, while Adagbe performed very well in timed events such as the foot march.
The competition evaluated participants in classroom learning and real world scenarios. The programme included chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear response training, trauma management, sustained casualty care and other life saving techniques under stress.
Officials from both the US Army and Ghana Armed Forces highlighted the importance of the competition for improving military medical readiness and cooperation. They said events like this help build stronger partnerships and prepare medics for joint operations and humanitarian missions in the future.
Ghana’s strong performance at the event reflects continued progress in military medical proficiency and reinforces the country’s commitment to international defence collaboration.
