Ghana Police Arrest Counsellor Lutterodt Over Controversial Comments About Daddy Lumba Burial
Controversial relationship counsellor Cyril George Carstensen Lutterodt, widely known as Counsellor Lutterodt, has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service following remarks he made about the burial of highlife legend Daddy Lumba.
According to reports, Lutterodt was taken into custody after allegedly encouraging Ga youth to storm a residence in East Legon and exhume the body of the late musician. Authorities say his comments could potentially incite violence and disturb public order.
The incident reportedly stemmed from statements Lutterodt made during a radio discussion. During the programme, he claimed that the late Daddy Lumba had been secretly buried at a private residence in East Legon. He described the alleged burial arrangement as disrespectful to Ga traditional authority and urged the youth to act immediately rather than waiting for official intervention.
Law enforcement authorities later confirmed that his arrest was linked to alleged incitement and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace. The arrest was made under provisions of the Criminal Offences Act and the Public Order Act.
However, the claim about the musician’s burial location has been disputed. Daddy Lumba, whose real name was Charles Kwadwo Fosu, was officially buried at Heroes Park in Kumasi on December 13, 2025, after a funeral ceremony organized by his family.
The controversy surrounding the burial comes amid ongoing disagreements within the late musician’s family. Reports indicate that some relatives, including his widow, did not attend the funeral due to unresolved disputes about funeral arrangements and customary rites.
Traditional leaders have also reportedly called for clarity regarding the burial arrangements and the future leadership structure within the family. Some factions within the family have demanded explanations regarding funeral expenses, burial decisions, and the appointment of a family successor.
Counsellor Lutterodt has long been known for making controversial public statements on social and cultural matters in Ghana. His comments on the burial of Daddy Lumba sparked widespread debate and criticism on social media, eventually drawing the attention of law enforcement authorities.
The police are expected to continue investigations into the matter while determining the appropriate legal steps regarding the allegations against him.
