Ghanata SHS Bursar Arrested Over Alleged Diversion Of Student Food Supplies

The bursar of Ghanata Senior High School in the Greater Accra Region has been arrested over allegations of diverting food supplies meant for students. The arrest follows investigations into complaints that items intended to support student feeding were being mismanaged.

According to regional authorities, concerns had been raised over the handling of food provisions at the school. After monitoring and further checks, officials reportedly caught the bursar in the act of diverting supplies. She was subsequently handed over to the police to assist with investigations.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister described the incident as a serious breach of trust, emphasizing that food items allocated to senior high schools are meant to ensure the health and wellbeing of students. Authorities stressed that any attempt to interfere with such provisions undermines the government’s investment in education and student welfare.

Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect is expected to go through due process under the law. Officials have reiterated their commitment to accountability in the management of public resources, especially in institutions responsible for shaping young minds.

The development has sparked discussions about transparency and oversight in the management of school resources. Many stakeholders are calling for stricter monitoring systems to prevent similar incidents in other institutions.

Further updates are expected as the case proceeds.
