Kennedy Agyapong Says He Is Worried For Prophet Elbernard After Failed Prophecy

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Ghanaian politician and former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has reacted to recent developments involving Prophet Bernard ElBernard Nelson-Eshun following a high-profile prophecy that did not materialise. Agyapong said he was concerned for the wellbeing of the cleric after the preacher issued a public apology for incorrectly predicting that he would become the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the recent presidential primary.

Prophet ElBernard, founder and leader of Spiritlife Revival Ministries, had earlier declared that God had revealed to him that Agyapong would be the NPP’s flagbearer ahead of the 2028 general elections. When the party’s primary results showed a different outcome, the preacher acknowledged that his prediction was wrong and asked for forgiveness from the public and those affected by his words.

In response, Agyapong said he was “scared” or concerned for Prophet ElBernard because the public and political reaction had been intense, and the cleric’s reputation had been heavily discussed in the media and online. The politician noted that people had strong reactions to the failed prophecy, with some critics questioning the role of religious leaders in political matters and others defending the preacher’s intentions.

Agyapong emphasised that while people may disagree with prophetic statements, personal respect and care for those involved should remain a priority. His comments reflect broader public conversations about the appropriateness of intertwining religious prophecy and political contests, especially in heated electoral contexts.

The situation has sparked debate across Ghana about the responsibility of religious figures when making public declarations that touch on political outcomes and the impact of those statements on followers and the wider community.
