Mzbel Speaks After Fire Oja’s Arrest And Guilty Plea
Ghanaian musician and media personality Mzbel has broken her silence following the arrest of Prophet Jedidiah Henry Kore, popularly known as Fire Oja, over comments she described as defamatory. The incident stemmed from public statements made by the preacher about Mzbel’s personal life and health, which she considered false and damaging to her reputation.
Speaking on the matter, Mzbel confirmed that Fire Oja was invited by the police after she filed an official complaint. According to her, the pastor was questioned at the Criminal Investigations Department, where he admitted that he did not have personal knowledge of her and acknowledged that his comments were inappropriate. She stated that he apologised and pleaded guilty during the police interrogation.
Mzbel explained that following his admission, the police opted not to detain him further but instead processed the case in accordance with legal procedures. She clarified that the matter has since been forwarded to court for the appropriate legal action to be taken.
Addressing public speculation, Mzbel dismissed claims that no arrest took place, insisting that the police acted professionally and within the law. She noted that her decision to involve law enforcement was not driven by revenge or hostility but by the need to protect her reputation and discourage the spread of falsehoods.
Mzbel also used the opportunity to urge religious leaders and public figures to exercise caution when making public pronouncements, especially those that could harm others. She emphasized that freedom of speech does not grant anyone the right to defame or make unverified claims about another person.
The case has sparked widespread discussion online, with many calling for greater accountability in public discourse and respect for personal boundaries.
