Mzbel Admit Medikal Once Snubbed Her Over A Feature, Calling Her An “Old Coin”

Ghanaian musician Belinda Nana Ekua Ampah, professionally known as Mzbel, has shared an unsettling experience she had with rapper Medikal regarding a proposed music collaboration.

In a recent interview, the veteran artist explained that she once approached Medikal with the idea of featuring him on one of her songs. According to Mzbel, the attempt did not go as she had hoped, leading to an awkward exchange between the two musicians.

Mzbel claims that when she reached out to Medikal about the feature, his response was dismissive. She says that instead of showing interest in the collaboration, Medikal allegedly referred to her dismissively as an “old coin.” The remark left her taken aback and disappointed, especially given her long-standing presence in Ghana’s music scene.

She expressed surprise that a colleague in the industry would react in such a manner, suggesting that respect and mutual support should define relationships among musicians regardless of generational differences. Mzbel emphasised that the comment made her feel undervalued and overlooked.

Despite the uncomfortable experience, she noted that she holds no ill intentions and remains focused on her craft. Mzbel reiterated her commitment to making music that resonates with her fans and continues to inspire upcoming artists.

Her revelation has sparked discussions across social media, with many fans expressing mixed reactions. Some have criticised Medikal for the alleged comment, while others believe that interactions in the entertainment industry can sometimes be misinterpreted.

Mzbel’s account highlights ongoing conversations about respect, collaboration, and professionalism within Ghana’s music community. She urged artists to foster positive working relationships that uplift the industry as a whole.
