Police Arrest Three People For Unlawful Possession Of Firearms Without A Licence In Wa West District

The Ghana Police Service has arrested three individuals in the Wa West District for allegedly possessing firearms and ammunition without the required licences. The arrests are part of ongoing efforts by police to enforce firearms laws and ensure public safety.

According to a police press release, officers from the Upper West Regional Police Command detained the three suspects after observing them openly carrying weapons and ammunition in the district. During questioning, the suspects admitted that they did not have licences for the guns and ammunition found in their possession.

The suspects were taken into custody and transported to a local police station where their statements were recorded as part of the ongoing investigation. Police are continuing their inquiries to determine how the firearms came into the possession of the suspects and whether any other individuals are involved.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to preventing the unlawful possession and use of firearms. Authorities have warned that illegally possessing guns and related ammunition is a serious offence under Ghanaian law and that anyone found in violation could face prosecution.

Police have urged members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activity and ensuring that any legally owned firearms are properly licensed in accordance with national regulations.
