Baba Sadiq Appointed Ghana’s High Commissioner To Nigeria

President John Dramani Mahama has officially appointed Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu as Ghana’s new High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, highlighting a key diplomatic move meant to strengthen relations between Ghana and one of its closest neighbours.

Baba Sadiq, a respected media entrepreneur and creative industry leader, will succeed the outgoing High Commissioner once he completes the formal accreditation process in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. His appointment reflects confidence in his ability to represent Ghana’s interests and deepen bilateral ties in trade, diplomacy, culture and public cooperation.

Prior to his new diplomatic role, Sadiq was well-known as the founder and CEO of 3 Media Networks Limited, the company behind the popular 3Music Awards and other entertainment platforms that have helped shape Ghana’s music and media landscape. His leadership in media and entertainment has made him a notable figure both locally and internationally.

In his new post, the High Commissioner-designate is expected to focus on expanding economic cooperation, enhancing diplomatic engagement and promoting strong people-to-people connections between Ghana and Nigeria. This includes advocating for Ghanaian businesses, supporting Ghanaian nationals in Nigeria and collaborating on regional initiatives under ECOWAS.

The appointment underscores the importance both countries place on their shared history, cultural ties and mutual interests as key partners in West Africa. Ghana looks forward to continued strong cooperation with Nigeria across multiple sectors under Sadiq’s leadership.
