First Lady Lordina Mahama Backs OAFLAD Pledge To Support Women And Children

Ghana’s First Lady Lordina Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed her commitment to supporting the work of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), urging stronger action to improve the lives of women and children across the continent. She made the pledge while attending the 30th Ordinary Assembly of OAFLAD held on the sidelines of the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Speaking at the gathering, Lordina Mahama emphasised that building resilience in communities requires a united effort to expand access to quality health care, education, and economic opportunities for women and girls. She said Ghana fully supports OAFLAD’s work and pledged to continue collaborating with partners to make a positive impact.

The First Lady highlighted the importance of health services for vulnerable groups, stressing that good health is the foundation for strong families and thriving societies. In her remarks, she also spoke about the need for educational support for underprivileged children and for programmes that help women become economically independent and skilled.

Lordina Mahama’s support aligns with OAFLAD’s focus on promoting health and human development, strengthening women’s leadership, and improving social outcomes throughout Africa. The organisation brings together First Ladies from across the continent to exchange ideas and champion shared goals for sustainable development in their communities.

Her participation in the assembly and her public backing of OAFLAD’s pledge underscore Ghana’s ongoing role in continental efforts to enhance well-being and opportunities for women and children.
