KNUST Declares Five Former Students Persona Non Grata On Campus
Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has officially declared five former students persona non grata, banning them from entering or remaining on the university’s campus
The directive was issued on March 9, 2026, as part of efforts by the university to strengthen campus security and maintain order within the academic community. According to the university, the individuals are no longer permitted to be present anywhere within the KNUST campus and may face arrest if they are found there.
The five individuals named in the notice are Bernard Boadi, Francis Tutu Atuahene, John Kelvin Kane, Roland Botwe Nsiah and Felix Acquah.
University authorities explained that all five individuals were dismissed from the institution on July 21, 2025, following findings of misconduct. Despite their dismissal, management said the former students continued to visit the campus and engage in activities that raised concerns about the safety and welfare of students and staff.
In one instance cited by the university, Francis Tutu Atuahene was reportedly seen moving across several halls of residence on campus and allegedly causing confusion among students. Such incidents, the university noted, persisted even after the disciplinary action that led to his dismissal from the institution.
To prevent further disturbances, KNUST has directed members of the university community to report any sighting of the five individuals to the KNUST Security Services or the nearest police station for immediate action.
The university also warned current students and affiliates not to associate with the banned individuals. Management indicated that any student found aiding or facilitating their presence on campus could face disciplinary action under the university’s regulations and the laws of Ghana.
KNUST emphasised that the decision forms part of its broader commitment to ensuring a safe and conducive environment for teaching, learning and research. The university also urged students and staff to cooperate with campus security in enforcing the directive and maintaining discipline within the institution.
