NHIA Disburses Nearly GH¢400 Million In Claims Payments For December And January
The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has announced the release of almost GH¢400 million to settle vetted health insurance claims submitted by healthcare providers for services rendered between December 2025 and January 2026.
According to the Authority’s statement, the total amount disbursed was GH¢392,031,851.26, reflecting the NHIA’s commitment to ensuring that facilities providing care to members of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) are paid promptly for services rendered.
Of this sum, GH¢301.66 million was paid in December 2025, with a further GH¢90.37 million paid in January 2026. The payments were made after the claims were thoroughly vetted by the NHIA’s claims processing unit, which assesses submitted bills to ensure they comply with NHIS guidelines and standards.
The bulk of the funds went to both public and private health facilities across the country, demonstrating the NHIA’s sustained effort to support diverse healthcare providers under the national insurance scheme. Mission facilities also received a share of the payments, reflecting the broad range of service providers engaged in delivering health services to insured patients.
In reaffirming the Authority’s stance on timely settlements, the NHIA emphasised that these payments are intended to strengthen the capacity of healthcare providers to continue offering quality care to NHIS members without unnecessary delays or financial strain.
The disbursement also aligns with ongoing efforts to sustain the operational effectiveness of the national health insurance system and to maintain trust between the NHIA and healthcare facilities. Quick and accurate claims settlement helps prevent accumulated debt and supports uninterrupted service delivery across both urban and rural areas.
